Completion, Placement, and Licensure

Annually, our cosmetology school reports the Completion, Placement, and Licensure rates to our accrediting agency, the Council on Occupational education. Below are the rates for the 2014-2015 year from July 1, 2014-June 30, 2015. In order to make these calculations, we follow the Council’s guidelines by taking the Beginning Enrollment equal to the total number of students enrolled in the program on the first day of the reporting period; we add the New Enrollees to this number which is the number of new, unduplicated enrollments for the program during the reporting period, minus allowable subtractions. Allowable subtractions include: students who transferred to another program within the institution, students who received a 100 percent refund of tuition after withdrawal from the program or those who stopped attending class after the first day, students documented to be unavailable to earn a credential in their programs or to gain employment in the field/related field due to situations, such as pregnancy, other serious health-related issues (physical/mental/behavioral), caring for ill family members, incarceration, death, etc. By adding these two numbers, we obtain a cumulative enrollment for the period.

The Graduate Completers are calculated by the number of students who have demonstrated the competencies required by the cosmetology training program and have been awarded the appropriate certificates, diplomas, and/or degrees upon completion. The Graduate Completers Employed in Positions Related to the Field of Instruction is calculated by graduates who are either employed in the field of instruction, entered the military, or are continuing their education. Non-Graduate Completers are the total number of students who left a program before graduation but have acquired sufficient competencies for employment in the field of instruction or related field. The Completion Rate below is calculated by subtracting the students that are still enrolled from the cumulative enrollment for the period, then divide that number by the number of completers (Graduate and Non-Graduate) and multiplying by 100.

To calculate the Placement Rate, we must first add the Graduate Completers Waiting to Take the Licensure Exam PLUS Graduate Completers who are Awaiting Results PLUS Graduate Completers Unavailable for Employment PLUS Graduate Completers who Refused Employment, then we subtract that number from the total number of Graduate Completers. The Placement rate is calculated by divided by the total number of  Graduate Completers Employed in Positions Related to the Field of Instruction by the number calculated previously for the allowable subtractions. That number is then multiplied by 100 to calculate the percentage.

The Licensure Exam Pass Rate is calculated by the number of students who passed the licensure exams by the number of students who took the exams.

The percentages below are for the Master Cosmetology Program.

Completion Rate 2014-2015 68%

Placement Rate 2014-2015 100%

Licensure Exam Pass Rate 2014-2015 100%
